Warehouse Operator
A company that operates a registered warehouse. The responsibilities of a warehouse operator include the storage and preservation of mineral commodities, certification and assurance of quality and quantity of commodities received, provision of a system for the creation, withdrawal and electronic transfer of warehouse receipts, facilitation of the delivery of commodities between owners and buyers of warehouse receipts and the facilitation of settlement of trades.
Individuals
Warehouse person
An individual who is responsible for the day to day operations of the warehouse. A warehouse person receives, stores, and manages the minerals, and handles the loading and offloading of commodities, ensuring the safety and keeping of accurate records, and coordination with other stakeholders to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
Commodity dealing company
A company authorized to trade in warehouse receipts only on behalf of clients. A commodity dealer is responsible for competently ensuring the execution of trades (taking orders from clients and submitting them on the Automated Trading System (ATS), producing broker notes), ensuring clearing and settlement of trades, advising clients on how to buy and sell on the Exchange and ensuring that proper staff members are appointed.
Individual commodity dealer
An individual employed by either a commodity dealing company or general commodity dealing company to only trade warehouse receipts. Commodity dealers act as intermediaries, connecting sellers (miners) and consumers (buyers) of commodities and ensuring the smooth flow of commodities on the global market.
Market maker
An entity registered by the Exchange that quotes bids and offers continuously for selected commodities and future contracts that it holds in inventory and is prepared and able to buy or sell these commodities and future contracts at any time on its own account or on behalf of another party
Individual general commodity dealer
An individual general commodity dealer is an individual authorized to trade warehouse receipts and contracts on behalf of clients and can be employed in a commodity dealing company. Individual general commodity dealers act as intermediaries, connecting seller (miners) and consumers (buyers) of commodities. General commodity dealers also facilitate the buying and selling of contracts on the exchange.
Clearing bank
A licensed commercial bank who has been admitted as a participant by the Exchange to facilitate the clearing and settlement of warehouse receipts, contracts and fund
General commodity dealing company
A dealer authorized to deal in warehouse receipts and contracts on behalf of clients. A general commodity dealer is responsible for competently ensuring execution of trades (taking orders from clients and submitting in ATS, producing brokers notes), ensuring clearing and settlement of trades, advising clients on how to buy and sell on the Exchange and ensuring that fit and proper staff members are appointed. A general commodity dealing company shall also provide sponsoring services such as bringing contracts for listing, meeting continuing obligations for the listing, and communicating with the exchange.
